USA Medical Department Capital Surgical Set by Snowden:
Snowden & Brother, Civil War, U.S.A. Medical Department Capital Surgical Set Snowden & Brother (George and Henry) were one of the major suppliers to the U.S. Army before and during the Civil War. This four layer capital set with military latches is from just before or during the first year of the War based on comparison to other similar sets of the era. The bullet forceps are of a earlier style with open finger design. Major instruments marked Snowden, or Snowden Phila. Dedicated slot for large metal bullet probe, extensive instruments for urinary catheterization and amputation typical of large capital set.

Dr William Booth was born in 1842 at the Delamere estate mansion on the Antietam in Washington County Maryland where he was raised until moving to Canyon City where he lived until his death. Both he and his wife Anna were brought back to Maryland for interment at Rose Hill Cemetery. His younger brother John was KIA April 13th 1865 near Richmond while serving in the 1st Regiment Maryland Cavalry.Dr Booth served in the Kings County New York Volunteers rank Assistant Surgeon 1863-1864. He mustered out of service in 1864 apparently to go back to school for additional education and graduated Univ of Maryland school of Medicine 1865.
