H. Hernstein USA Dental Tooth Key
USA Hospital Department marked Dental Tooth key manufactured by Hermann Hernstein New York. Checker board wooden handle. Round bolster signed H Hernstein on one side and USA Hospital Dept. on the reverse. Removable fulcrum. This key would likely have been part of several dental instruments in a think leather rollup. I’ve included a scan copy of the Tiemann 1860’s catalog show very similar tooth keys and several heavy forceps for tooth extraction. During the war years the company name was Hermann Hernstein and Son 1862-1865 located at:131 Mercer and 393 Broadway.
